Our members come from all over the area, as long as you can get to Bearsted near Maidstone in Kent, you’ll be OK.
We’re a friendly group of people from all walks of life who enjoy the thrill of putting on a good show.

Audition for a show
Auditions for our autumn 2026 production of Ladies’ Day are on Monday 10th August (read through) and Thursday 13th August at 8pm.
Roles:
Female Characters
- Pearl (approx. 55): The ‘mother hen’ and oldest of the group who is leaving the factory for early retirement.
- Jan (approx. 40s/50s): A hard-working single mother whose life revolves around her daughter.
- Shelley (approx. 20s/30s): A reality TV wannabe who is brash, loud, and confident on the surface, but hides significant debt and insecurities.
- Linda (approx. early 20s): The youngest and most naive member of the group, who is vulnerable, exploited by an alcoholic mother, and a massive Tony Christie fan.
Male Characters
- Joe: The kindly supervisor of the fish packing factory who is moving to Australia.
- Patrick: An Irish jockey who hits it off with Linda and helps her build confidence.
- Jim McCormack: A sleazy TV racing pundit who interacts with the women.
- Fred: A flashy ticket tout.
- Barry: An amorous bookie – a ‘ghost’ from Pearl’s past who appears later in the play.
- Kevin – A penniless pundit.
Everyone is welcome to audition regardless of ability or experience.

Singing, dancing and playing an instrument
We are mainly a drama group but there are still opportunities for singing and dancing. Our aim is to perform one production with music a year.

Backstage
Prompting
Behind the wings, the prompt helps performers with their lines on stage.
Director, assistant director and producer
The director and assistance director determines how a show is performed creatively.
The producer is usually involved in funding, venue organisation and bringing everything together.
